MURFREESBORO, Tenn. --- The women’s tennis team completed the ITA Regional tournament on a good night Sunday afternoon.
In the only match of the day for Tennessee State, Ani Popiashvili defeated Jaclyn Findlay of Lipscomb. Popiashvili cruised to wins in both sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-1. She would finish the tournament winning her last 3 matches in singles play. The Tigers won a total of 12 matches between doubles and singles play.
“This was an awesome weekend for the ladies. We had 12 victories this weekend and represented TSU well. I could not be any happier with the play and effort of our girls,” Head Coach Monroe Walker said. “We will continue to grow and use this tournament as motivation for the spring. Ani won five matches this week and the most of any player. She has worked so hard and it is showing. Once all the girls start working hard we will be much better.”
