NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University women’s tennis team dropped a pair of matches to Alabama A&M in Huntsville, Ala. on Wednesday.
The Tigers (0-7) fell 4-0 in both matches against the Bulldogs (2-8). They were the first two wins of the season for Alabama A&M.
During the first match, the Bulldogs won one of their four points for taking both doubles matches as only the Tigers’ pair of Phyllicia Hemphill and Adrianne Presley recorded a point in their matchup.
In the singles portion, Presley pushed the first set to the brink, but fell 6-4. The second set was 6-1 in favor of her opponent, Jessica Taylor, giving her the matchup win. Attallah Eiland and Brittney Harris lost in straight sets to round out Alabama A&M’s first match victory.
There was no doubles’ play in the second match as the Bulldogs took four points from singles’ competition.
Nicole Madden and Harris managed to not fall in straight sets without scoring, but both still fell by the same two set scores of 6-0, 6-1. Subsequently, Corlisia Clark and Hemphill fell in straight sets to finish the seventh loss of the year for TSU.
The Tigers will next play Jacksonville State on Friday at 12:00 p.m. The road tilt will be their fifth OVC match of the season.
