Stewart Grabs First Collegiate Win,

Lofton picks up Fourth Victory

Jackson, Mo. - The Tennessee State University Tigers closed out their road schedule losing a hard fought OVC match to Southeast Missouri State by a score of 4-2 at the Class Act Family Fitness courts. The Tigers remain without a win this season, moving to 0-10 overall and 0-8 in the OVC.

SEMO picks up their first win of the year and is now 1-16 (1-5 OVC) on the year with three Redhawks grabbing their first individual wins in singles play.

In singles action, Meagan Haynes still could not gather her first win on the season losing to Julia Masotti in the No. 1, 6-1, 6-2. In a closely fought No. 3, Tierra Sharpe fell to Anna LeBoeuf, 6-4, 6-4.

In No. 4 singles, Lia Stewart picked up her first collegiate win defeating Erika Seabaugh, 6-1, 6-2. Melissa Martin, for the third straight match was edged out, dropping, 6-4, 6-5, in No. 5 action to Kara True.

Picking up the final point for TSU in No. 6 singles was Dania Lofton dropping Sarah Pettigrew, 6-0, 6-3. With the win, Lofton picked up her fourth win of the season.

Doubles were not played as SEMO already won the match following the completion of singles competition.

Next, the Tigers will host Western Kentucky on Wednesday, April 8th, in Nashville, Tenn. This will be the second meeting on the season as the Hilltoppers defeated the Tigers 7-0 back on March 20th.
