Women's Tennis Head to Jacksonville State

Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University women's tennis team will travel to Jacksonville, Ala. for a rescheduled conference match against Jacksonville State on Tuesday, March 31. Start time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The original date was scheduled for March 27th but was postponed due to weather.

The Tigers are 0-6 overall, 0-4 in Ohio Valley Conference matches.

The Tigers will look to number one seed Megan Haynes and number two player Penelope Johnson to start things off. As a team, TSU is 2-34 in singles play and are winless in doubles competiton at 0-14.

The Gamecocks, behind Eloah Lopes (11-2), have won two straight and four of their last five matches including a 6-1 conference win over TTU (3/25). In singles play, JSU posts a 54-24 record (.692) with a 27-11 (.711) doubles record. Lopes along with Martina Dessbesell are the Gamecocks best combination in doubles play at 10-3.

The Tigers will host Alabama A&M on Thursday, April 2nd, at the TSU Tennis Complex. Start time is scheduled for 2 p.m. The Bulldogs defeated the Tigers earlier this season in Huntsville, Ala. with the women dropping 5-2 and the men edged out, 4-3.
