Tennis Falls to Murray State

Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University women's tennis team dropped their consecutive conference game with a 7-0 loss to Murray State at the Hadley Park Indoor Tennis Bubble Thursday afternoon. The team moves to 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Due to weather conditions, teams had to play indoor.

In the women's double competition, the team of Meagan Haynes and Penelope Johnson fought and was down 4-3 before giving up a 4-1 point advantage to lose 8-4 to Murray State's Angela McGahee and Anne Pennington.

In the top singles match, Haynes moved to 0-3 on the year dropping two sets to Pennington, 6-2, 6-3. Senior Dania Lofton (1-2) dropped her second competition of the year losing 6-2, 6-0 to the Racers' Ashley Pierseon.

Murray State men move to 3-5 overall and 1-0 in the OVC while the women slide to 6-2, 1-0 in OVC matches. 

Next, the Tigers will head to Martin, Tenn. to face UT Martin in conference play. The match is scheduled for Sunday, March 15th with a 1 p.m. start.
