Women's Golf Falls to Lipscomb, 310-338

NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State women’s golf team continued its torrid schedule with the fourth competitive round in six days. The Tigers dropped a duel match with Lipscomb, 310-338, at the Par-72, 5,834 yard, Ted Rhodes Golf Course on Friday afternoon.

Morgan Rood placed fourth in the individual battle and led the Tigers carding a 9-over, 81. Rood opened strong shooting a 4-over, 39, through nine and cut down to 3-over with a birdie on the par-5, 10th. The freshman was one stroke off the lead before struggling with a quadruple bogey on the par-5, 13th. Rood closed out the final five holes shooting 1-over.

Natalie Spicer, Savannah Szozda and Paige Harlin registered the final three scoring rounds for the Tigers. The trio each tied for the second lowest scores on the back nine with a 3-over, 40. Spicer shot an 84, while Szozda fired an 85 and Harlin completed the day at 16-over, 88.

Haleigh Riley carded a non-scoring 22-over, 94.

TSU will continue its seven competitive rounds in nine days as part of the Saluki Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois on Sunday, Mar. 26.
