SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee State women’s golf team once again battled a cold day during the first round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate hosted by Tennessee Tech.
As a team, the Tigers carded a 71-over, 355, and sit in 12th place heading into day two of the three day event.
Natalie Spicer led the team with a 13-over, 85, and is tied for 47th in the field of 74. The junior finished with seven pars on the day as she hit nine of 14 fairways and three greens in regulation. Spicer converted on four up-and-downs through the first 18 holes.
Kelly Merkel (86), Sarah Needleman (87) and Paige Harlin (97) all registered countable scores for the Tigers. Sophomore Imani Stingley shot a non-scoring 99.
The women will tee-off for the second round at 12:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon at the Sevierville Golf Club’s Highlands Course.
