McGrath Inks Szozda to NLI

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee State women’s golf coach Parrish McGrath announced the signing of Savannah Szozda.

The new TSU addition hails from Kingston, Tenn. and was a four-year member of the Kingston High School golf team for head coach Connie Guinn. She closed out her career with a 13th place finish at the 2015 Tennessee State Championships.

“Savannah is ready to compete at the college level,” said McGrath. “She has all the tools needed to be successful. The most important tool is her desire to compete. She will contribute to our team immediately.“

As a junior, Szozda was named a PrepXtra 1st Team after finishing 9th at the A/AA 2014 State Championship, as she fired an 83 on each day of the two-day event. Szozda also won the District 4-A/AA and carded a 79 at the Region 2-A/AA.

The incoming Tiger was top medalist at the PrepXtra Masters Tennessee National with a 2-over, 146 (73-73) and found success on the junior tour on the Junior Southeastern Golf Tour. Szozda placed 9th at the Doublegate Junior Classic in 2014 and followed it up with a 6th place finish at the 2015 Furman Junior Classic.

Szozda works with golf instructor, Jake Reeves, and was named All-American Junior Golf Tournament High School Golfer of the Year.
