Nashville, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University women's golf team will travel this weekend to Richmond, Ky. to compete in their regular season finale at the EKU Lady Colonel Classic, hosted by Eastern Kentucky.
The two-day tournament will take place at the par-72, 5,801 yards Arlington Golf Course from April 9-10 and will feature a field of 13 teams.
Sharing the field with Tennessee State includes: Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Bowling Green State, Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, Morehead State, Murray State, Ohio, Southern Illinois, Tennessee Tech, and Toledo.
The Tigers are looking for a solid performance in their last tournament before the Ohio Valley Championship giving them one last chance to gage the competition heading into the conference tournament.
The women are coming off of an eighth place finish at the Belmont Invitational where juniors Jamie Pierce and Marie Black completed the Invitational as the Tigers' top finishers.
Peirce represents TSU at the No. 1 position having finished in the top five in two tournaments this year while posting an 82.4 stroke average. Black follows at No. 2., carding an 89.8 stroke average so far in four events.
TSU will make their first appearance in the EKU Lady Colonel Classic where Morehead State walked away with the team title last year after posting a three round total of 905. Arkansas State's Anna Carling captured the individual championship after carding a 76 in the final round.
The 54-hole Invitational is set to tee off with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on both days playing 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday.
