Friday, April 1, 2011

Nashville, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University women's golf team will compete in the 2011 Belmont Women's Invitational held from April 4-5.

The two-day tournament will take place at the par-71, 6,044-yard Old Hickory Country Club in Old Hickory, Tenn.

The country club, which was established in 1926, will host teams in the surrounding area including: Austin Peay, Lipscomb, Middle Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Treveca, and UAB.

The tournament will consist of 36 holes beginning with 18 on Monday and concluding with 18 on Tuesday. First round action is set to kick-off at 9:00 a.m. with the second round starting at 9:30 a.m.

After firing its lowest round of the season at the Alabama A&M Spring Invitational last week, TSU is looking to build on that performance where the Tigers carded a 683 overall after posting a season best 333 team score on the final day.

Next, the women will travel to Eastern Kentucky from April 8-10 for their final competition before postseason gets underway with the OVC Championships.
