Murray, Ky. --- The Tennessee State University women's golf team finished sixth at the NewWave Communications Classic at the Miller Memorial Golf Course.
Heavy rain washed out the first round Monday, and the tournament was decided Tuesday on one round of 18 holes.
Tennessee State shot 376 in the tournament and was led by Jamie Pierce who finished tied for 22nd with a score of 84. Marie Black carded a 94 and placed 34th while Mya Billingsley followed at 35th with a score of 94. Bria Norris registered a score of 101 and finished the tournament in 36th.
Murray State won its fourth straight NewWave Communications Classic title with a score of 317 while Western Illinois placed second at 323. Austin Peay was third at 326 and Belmont was fourth with a 336 as Valparaiso (340) and Tennessee State rounded out the field.
TSU will face Lipscomb in a dual match (March 12) before traveling to Memphis to participate in the Christian Brothers Invitational, March 20-22.
