Women's golf wraps up play at OVC Championship

Dickson, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University women's golf team concluded play at the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference Championship Saturday afternoon at the Greystone Golf Course.

Tennessee State, who served as the host institution for the tournament, was led by Jamie Pierce's round of 79 (+7) on Saturday. Pierce carded a three-round total of 248 (+32), which placed her 31st.

Bria Norris followed in 36th place with an overall score of 267 (90-87-90). Marie Black shot her best round of the tournament on Saturday with an 83 to finish with a score of 271. Maya Billingsley (298) and Jatoia Potts (391) rounded out the scorers for TSU.

As a team, TSU had a combined round of 350 on Saturday, which was a 14-stroke improvement over its previous best round in the event.

Morehead State claimed the 2011 OVC Championship title while Murray State placed second. After dropping to fourth place following round two, Jacksonville State stormed back to grab third place.
