Women's golf heads to Chicago State Cougar Classic

Nashville, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University women's golf team will travel to Hammond, Ind. to compete in the 3rd Annual Chicago State Cougar Classic.

This will be the Tigers' first appearance in the event.

The event will take place at the Lost Marsh Golf Course which will feature its largest field to date with 14 NCAA Division I schools that represent six different conferences. The event is set for September 20-21 with a shot gun start beginning at 8 a.m.

The teams participating in this year's tournament are Alabama State, South Dakota, North Dakota, Green Bay, Eastern Illinois, SIU Edwardsville, Loyola University-Chicago, Valparaiso, Dayton, Butler, IPFW and IUPUI.

The women will look to improve after finishing and eighth-place finish at the ASU Fall Golf Classic.  Jamie Pierce led the Tigers in the individual standings shooting an 82 then ended the last round with an 81 for a total score of 163.

Next, the women will return to the green from October 10-12 at the Birmingham Southern Shootout hosted by Birmingham Southern.
