Women's Golf Places Fifth at SSU Tiger Invitational

Savannah, Ga. --- The Tennessee State University women's golf team finished in fifth place after two rounds of the Savannah State University Tiger Invitational.

As a team, Tennessee State shot a 365 in round one before registering a score of 352 in the second round. TSU shot its best score this season and is continuing to improve.

The Tigers had three players to finish in the top 20 led by Jamie Pierce with a 24-over par 166 and a 13th place finish. She carded an 87 in the opening round before turning in a 79 in round two.

Marie Black and Mya Billingsley tied for 18th place and carded a 41-over 183. Black shot rounds of 96 and 87 while Billingsley registered a 91 and 92.

Katelyn Dingeman just missed the top 20 with a 21st place finish and a 43-over 185 (91-94). Jatoia Potts rounded out the scorers for TSU with a score of 250 (123-127).

The top two teams, Hampton University and Bethune-Cookman University each finished the six field tournament with a total of 626. Hampton carded rounds of 314 and 312 while Bethune-Cookman tallied a 315 in round one and a 311 in the conclusion. South Carolina State finished third (322-337-659).
