Women's golf heads back to Alabama for Huntingdon College Invitational

Nashville, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University women's golf team will travel to Huntingdon College to play in the annual Huntingdon Hawk Spring Invitational.

The invitational, hosted by Huntingdon College, will take place in Prattville, Ala. at the Prattville Country Club from April 12-13.

The Invitational is set to tee off at 8:30 a.m. on both days on with a shotgun start on Tuesday (4/13).

The Prattville Country Club, a par 72 and 5,816-yard course, will host eight teams. Sharing the field with Tennessee State includes Alabama State, Birmingham-Southern, Piedmont, Spelman, Covenant, Truett-McConnell, and West Georgia.

The Tigers are coming off a second place finish at the Alabama A&M Spring Classic after winning it a year ago. Jamie Pierce led TSU in the final standings shooting a 161 (17-over-par) for sixth overall.

Marie Black and Katelyn Dingeman followed in the standings with both players notching a final count at 181. All three players were named to the all tournament team.

Pierce leads the team finishing in the top five in two tournaments this year while posting an 83 stroke average.

TSU will make their first appearance in Huntingdon Hawk Spring Invitational where Piedmont College walked away with the team title last year. Alabama State's Danielle Robinson captured the individual championship after posting consecutive rounds of 83.

TSU women's golf will host a tri-match on April 17. Teams competing will be announced at a later date.
