Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University women's golf team will travel to Oneonta, Ala. to participate in the Samford Women's Intercollegiate, March 15-16.
The 54-hole competition will be held Monday and Tuesday and is slated to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. at Limestone Springs, a highly-acclaimed 6,457-yard, par-72 golf course. Practice round is scheduled for Sunday, March 14.
The tournament, hosted by Samford University, will feature 11 teams, including OVC opponents Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech.
Other participants include Belmont, Evansville, Louisiana-Monroe, Montevallo, South Alabama, UAB, and Western Kentucky.
As a four-player team, TSU is shooting a combined 89-over-par while managing a team average of 376.3 with six finishes in the top 10.
The Tigers open the spring season after placing fifth out of a pool of six teams in the SSU Tiger Fall Invitational hosted by Savannah State on Nov. 9-10.
TSU shot 149-over-par posting a team score of 717 with Jamie Pierce notching a team best 24-over-par shooting a total of 166. Pierce shot the two-round, par 71, competition at 87 and 79.
She currently holds the teams' best average at 82.2 from nine rounds played just posting 10 strokes over. During the fall season, she placed in the top five twice in five events played.
The teams are scheduled to complete the opening two rounds of 36 holes on day one and then will play the final 18 holes on the final day. Competition is slated to begin Monday at 8:30 a.m.
Up next, TSU Golf will head to Huntsville, Ala. to play in the Alabama A&M Spring Classic from March 28-30.
