London, Ky. --- The Tennessee State
University women’s golf team finished the 2009 Ohio Valley Conference
tournament in eighth place.
As a team, TennesseeState carded a 373-over par 1,237 for
the tournament. MurrayState won the title with
an 88-over par 352, winning its first championship since 2004.
JacksonvilleStatefinished as the runner-up, followed
by Tennessee Techand MoreheadStatewho
tied for third. The order was finished out by Eastern
Illinois, Austin Peay, Eastern
Kentucky and TennesseeState.
TSU was led
by Marie Black who had a final round score of 88 (+16), the best for the Lady
Tigers in the three-day event. Black finished 35th overall.
Stewart finished 36th while Marissa Edge picked up a 37th
place finish. Genesis Fitzgerald and Mya Billingsley rounded out the scorers
for TSU as they finished 38th and 39th respectively.
