Women's Golf Finishes Eighth at OVC Tournament

London, Ky. --- The Tennessee State University women’s golf team finished the 2009 Ohio Valley Conference tournament in eighth place.

 

As a team, Tennessee State carded a 373-over par 1,237 for the tournament. Murray State won the title with an 88-over par 352, winning its first championship since 2004.

 

Jacksonville State finished as the runner-up, followed by Tennessee Tech  and Morehead State who tied for third. The order was finished out by Eastern Illinois, Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee State.

 

TSU was led by Marie Black who had a final round score of 88 (+16), the best for the Lady Tigers in the three-day event. Black finished 35th overall.

 

Danielle Stewart finished 36th while Marissa Edge picked up a 37th place finish. Genesis Fitzgerald and Mya Billingsley rounded out the scorers for TSU as they finished 38th and 39th respectively.
