TSU FRESHMAN ASHLEY DAVIS TAKESTITLE AT NATIONAL MINORITY GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. --- Tennessee State freshman golfer Ashley Davis ended her first collegiate season in the best possible way by winning the Women's Independent Division at the 2003 National Minority College Golf Championships. Davis, representing TSU's first-year women's team, finished with a 229, after rounds of 74, 74, and 81. Texas Southern's Katrina Edwards was a distance second place finisher with a 246. Davis was the only representative to compete for the Lady Tigers in the tournament that played on the collegiate level for the first time this spring. The event was held at the PGA Golf Club (North Course). More than 100 athletes from 22 colleges and universities were in the men's and women's field at the 17th annual event.
