NASHVILLE ---The Tennessee State women’s cross country team capped the 2016 season with a 12th place finish at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship at Percy Warner Park on Saturday morning. Kenyana Hampton (Pittsburgh, Pa.) led the Tigerbelles in the 5K with a 66th place finish.
Hampton broke 20 minutes for the second time this season, clocking in at 19:45.6 to pace TSU on Saturday.
In a close race for second among TSU runners, Kayla Pryor (Ellenwood, Ga.) finished just over five seconds ahead of her sister, Christian Pryor (Ellenwood, Ga.). Kayla Pryor secured 78th place in 21:05.6 with Christian Pryor taking 79th in 21:10.8. Both times were season bests for the Pryor sisters.
Also turning in season bests were Jasmir Spearman (Atlanta, Ga.) and Alexia King (Atlanta, Ga.) with times of 21:28.4 and 23:03.4, respectively.
In the team competition, TSU scored 357 points to take 12th place. Eastern Kentucky won the team title with a score of 29, while UT Martin’s Ann Asipan earned first place in 17:03.9.
