MURRAY, Ky. – The Tennessee State women’s cross country squad placed 12th at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Saturday. The Tigers missed 11th by finishing three points behind Jacksonville State in the 5K event.
Eastern Kentucky claimed the team title with all five scoring runners finished in the top eight spots of the 82 runner field.
Kenyana Hampton crossed the finish line first for the Tigers in a time of 19:20.2, cutting 50 seconds off her 2014 performance. Kayla Pryor (21:38.5) finished four spots ahead of her twin sister, Christian, who chopped over a minute off her time from a year ago.
Jasmir Spearman (21:59.5) and Diera Taylor (22:56.1) grabbed the final two scoring times crossing in front of JSU runners.
The Tigerbelles will transition to the Indoor Track season beginning with the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt on Dec. 5.
