CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee State women’s cross country team accomplished its highest finish in recent memory as they placed sixth at the PowerAde Invitational hosted by the UT Chattanooga. As a team, the Tigerbelles finished ahead Alabama A&M and Ohio Valley Conference opponent Jacksonville State.
Kanyana Hampton led TSU by placing 16th in a field of 61 runners. Hampton finished the two-mile run in 12:04.71. Christian Pryor was the next to cross for the Tigerbelles in a time of 13:35.62. Pryor’s twin, Kayla, broke the tape just under six seconds later (13:41.01).
Jasmir Spearman (14:09.29) and Amber Hughes (14:29.44) registered scoring points for TSU as the fourth and fifth runners to cross the finish line.
Clairwin Dameus (14:57.57) and India Smith (15:30.46) posted non-scoring times on Friday afternoon.
A trip to Tallahassee, Fla. on Sept. 26 is next on the schedule for TSU as they compete in a Florida A&M hosted event.
