400m runners lead the Tigerbelles in season opener

Murfreesboro, Tenn.  - The Tennessee State University Tigerbelles got the 2010-11 indoor season underway at the Middle Tennessee State Christmas Invitational inside the Murphy Center.

The 400m tandem of Ashley Taylor and Gabrielle Todd spotlighted the team's overall performance finishing in first and third. Taylor clocked in at 57.60 seconds to win the event with Todd finishing in third with a time of 58.06.

The duo joined Kya Riley and Daniell Exum on the 4x400m relay for another first place finish to close out the meet. The quartet ran a time of 3:56.15.

Through the course of the day, Martinique Guice, Chardonne Duncan, Breanna Adams, and Teannah Holland finished in fourth in their respective events.

Guice finished the 55m in 7.17 seconds, the exact time she posted last year to close out indoor competition at the OVC Championship.

Duncan opened her career in the 55m hurdles posting a time 9.41. Adams registered a time of 2:28.14 in the 800m with Holland recording her best toss in the shot put at 37-09.50 (11.52m).

The Tigerbelles will return to action when they host the Ed Temple Classic inside the Gentry Center on the Wilma Rudolph Indoor Track on Jan. 8.
