Nashville, Tenn. - The Tigerbelles will head over to the West End of Nashville when Tennessee State University competes in the Vanderbilt Invitational. Competition will begin on Friday, April 22, and will conclude, Saturday, April 23.
The meet will take place at the Vanderbilt Track and Field Complex located next to the McGugin Athletic Center and Rich Athletic Practice Facility.
The men's long jump will set the event in motion on Friday at 3 p.m. while running events scheduled to start at 5 p.m. with the women's 200m. Saturday's line-up will open with the women's hammer throw at 10 a.m. and the 400m relay will open competition on the track at 12 p.m.
Participating teams include: Austin Peay (W), Belmont (M/W), Howard (M/W), Lee (Tenn.) (M/W), Lipscomb (M/W), Memphis (M/W), Middle Tennessee State (M/W), Southern Illinois (M/W), Southern Indiana (M/W), Tennessee (M/W), Tennessee Tech (W), Alabama-Birmingham (W), Vanderbilt (M/W), Virginia Commonwealth (M/W), Western Kentucky (M/W) as well as unattached athletes.
TSU will enter the Invitational for the first time since the 2008 season when they finished in the top-ten in 11 events. Former Tigerbelles, including the 2008 OVC MVP, Dominique Holmes, and Gladys Williams highlighted the overall performance.
Holmes finished second in the 400m (53.97 secs.) and fourth in the 200m (23.66 secs.) while Williams finished third in the high jump (5"05.00 | 1.65m).
Current T-Belle, Martinique Guice, is the only competitor on the current roster to have competed at the Invitational in 2008. As a freshman, she finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 19"02.00 (5.84m) RESULTS...

The team finished competition two weeks ago at home in the 9th Annual Boston-Moon Classic. The Tigerbelles posted one victory and finished runner-up in three events. The 1600m relay (Gabrielle Todd, Kya Riley, Daniell Exum, Ashley Taylor) closed out the meet with a win running a time of 3:54.80. RECAP...
Next, the team will compete at the Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, from April 27-30 in Philadelphia, Penn.
