Tigerbelles hang tough at Valentine's Invitational

Nashville, Tenn. - The Tigerbelles recorded six finishes in the top-ten as Tennessee State University concluded the regular indoor season at the Valentine's Invitational hosted by Middle Tennessee State on Saturday (2/13) at the Murphy Center.

The 4x400-relay team finished in second place with the team of Pia Perez, Jacarra Dennis, Kya Riley, and Gabrielle Todd at 3:38.50.

Todd registered the best individual performance on the track with her fastest time in the 400m on the season. She clocked 58.50 seconds in the event for a fourth place finish.

In the field events, Martinique Guice led the way with a fourth place finish in the long jump and fifth place standing in the triple jump.  In the long jump, she posted a mark of 18" 0.75 (5.50m) and followed with a 36" 05.50 (11.11m) vault in the triple jump.

The Tigerbelles will take a week off of competition before competing in the 2010 OVC Indoor Track and Field Championship. The meet is scheduled for Feb. 26 - 27 and will be hosted by Tennessee State University at the Wilma Rudolph Indoor Track inside the Gentry Center.
