Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University Tigerbelles got off to a fair start after the holiday break in the 10th Annual Ed Temple Classic on Sunday (1/10), at the Wilma Rudolph Indoor Track (Gentry Center).
The Tigerbelles finished overall with a pair of second-place awards. The awards were given to collegiate participants.
Gabrielle Todd finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.83 seconds and would return to anchor the 4x400-meter relay team for another second place award. Todd was joined by teammates, Pia Perez, Jacarra Dennis, and Kya Riley to improve their relay time to 3:58.71 on the season.
Several Tigerbelles finished fourth respectively in the final standings of their events.
Dennis finished fourth in the 200-meter dash at 26.20 seconds. Martinique Guice jumped 36"7.00 for fourth in the triple jump and would run 7.30 seconds for fifth in the finals of the 55-meter dash.
After a dispute, Teannah Holland was pushed out of a third-place finish in the weight throw and settled for fourth with a toss of 14.80 meters.
The distance medley relay team of Todd, Jaleeca Jacobs, Jasmine Jacobs and Perez, also posted a fourth place mark, competing in the event for the first time this season. The quartet registered a time of 14:05.73.
Next, TSU will head to the SASF Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois. The meet will begin Friday, Jan. 15 with the field events, and conclude Saturday with the track competition.
