Tigerbelles finish with several good performances at MTSU

Murfreesboro, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University Tigerbelles opened the 2009-10 season at the MTSU Christmas Invitational, Saturday (12/12) afternoon.

Jacarra Dennis led the team with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.42 seconds. Dennis also competed in the triple jump posting a fourth-place mark of 34-11 (10.66m).

The Tigerbelles captured third place in several events including the 4x400-meter relay, the triple jump and 800-meter run. The 4x400-meter relay team of Dennis, Kya Riley, Pia Perez and Jaleeca Jacobs ran a time of 4:00.47.

Jal. Jacobs also grabbed third in the 800-meter with a 2:30.81 clocking with Martinique Guice finishing third in the triple jump (11.12m) and fourth in the long jump (5.42m).

Riley made her debut with a time 26.44 seconds in the 200-meter dash for fourth overall followed by fifth place in the 400-meter dash (1:00.62).

Next, TSU will host the Ed Temple Classic on Sunday, Jan. 10. Starting time of the meet is to be determined.
