Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University Tigerbelles will host their 2nd Annual Tigerbelles Reunion during Homecoming 2009. The event will take place following the parade on Nov. 7 inside Wilma Rudolph Hall.
Attending the reunion will be current members of the track and field along with legendary Tigerbelles Edith McGuire-Duvall, Iris Davis-Hicks, Isabella Daniels, Martha "Pee-Wee" Pennyman, Brenda Morehead, Kathy McMillan, Mamie Rallis, and Wyomia Tyus.
Also attending includes Tigerbelle Ohio Valley Conference Champions: Kenitra Woods, Nicole Donaldson, Nia Campbell, Monique Ferrel, Margertha McLean, and Quanisha Smith.
For the 2009-10 team, the Tigerbelles return 13 runners from last season and are led by OVC long jump champion and NCAA regional qualifier, junior, Martinique Guice. The team is also powered by seniors Pia Perez, Ashley Anderson, and Jaleeca and Jasmine Jacobs.
Six newcomers join the squad this season adding depth to the team. Freshmen Apryl Johnson and Gabrielle Todd will look to make an immediate impact on the team.
The Tigerbelles have announced their tentative 2009-10 track and field indoor and outdoor season schedules. The team will open the schedule at the Middle Tennessee State Christmas Invitational (12/12) in Murfreesboro, Tenn. In 2010, the team will then host the Ed Temple Classic (1/10) before heading to Carbondale, Ill. to compete in Southern Illinois' SASF Invitational (1/15-15).
Two weeks later, the Tigerbelles will compete at home in the TSU Invite (2/6) before heading to MTSU's Valentine Invitational (2/13). After an open week, TSU will host the OVC Indoor Track and Field Championship from Feb. 26-27.
