Carbondale, Ill. - The Tennessee State University women's track and field team highlighted their performance with a career best at the SASF Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois (1/15-16).
Martinique Guice and Ebonie Jackson concluded the first day of the season numbers. Guice moved to the top of the league with her best long jump performance of the season. She posted a jump of 5.52m (18'1.5") for ninth place overall.
Jackson placed seventh in the weight throw and ended the meet with the best individual performance. She managed a career toss in the weight throw with a mark of 15.82m (51' 11").
Dennis finished with a time of 59.20 seconds (11th) while capturing another season best in the triple jump at 10.93m (11th). Todd followed next and was clocked at 59.27 seconds while running her fastest in the 200m (26.35 seconds).
Dennis and Todd move to the third and fourth slot on the OVC's Top Performance List in the 400m. With times converted due to track size at the SASF Invitational, Dennis ranks third with a 58.50 and Todd sits fourth with a time of 58.57.
Both would join teammates Pia Perez and Jaleeca Jacobs on the 4x400-meter relay team for fifth place overall. The team ran their fastest of the season at 4:01.50 (conv. 3:58.70) and now rank second in the conference.
TSU will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 6 when they host the TSU Invite. The meet time is to be determined and will be held on the Wilma Rudolph Indoor Track inside the Gentry Center.
