Nashville, Tenn. - The Tigerbelles will return to action when Tennessee State University competes in the 2010 SASF Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois.
The meet will be held from Jan. 15-16 on the campus of Southern Illinois at the Student Recreation Center in Carbondale, Ill.
Start time on Friday, Jan. 15 will begin with the women's weight throw at 4 p.m. The meet program will continue on Saturday (1/16) with the women's shot put at 10:00 a.m. and the women's 60-meter dash at 10:30 a.m. Both days will move on a rolling schedule with each event starting directly after the other.
Along with the TSU men's team, the pool of entries include: Southern Illinois (M&W), Southern (M&W), Florissant Valley CC (M&W), SE Missouri State (M&W), St. Louis (M&W), McKendree (M&W), Austin Peay State (W), Lindenwood (M&W), Mississippi Valley State (M&W), Missouri Baptist (M&W), Arkansas State (M&W), Jacksonville (W), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (M&W), Lincoln (Mo.) (M&W), Illinois (W), Rend Lake (M&W) and several track clubs and unattached competitors.
Last season at the SASF Invitational, Martinique Guice and the 4x400-meter relay team highlighted the team's performance.
Guice finished second in the long jump overall with a mark of 5.87m (19-03.25). She then joined current T'belle, Pia Perez, with former runners, Salisha Marryshow and Lanika Horn, for a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:03.16.
With two meets into the indoor season, the Tigerbelles picked up a pair of second-place awards last week when they hosted the 10th Annual Ed Temple Indoor Classic.
Gabrielle Todd finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.83 seconds and would return to anchor the 4x400-meter relay team for another second-place award. Todd was joined by, Perez, Kya Riley, and Jacarra Dennis, improving their relay time to 3:58.71 on the season.
The Tigerbelles will return to action on Feb. 6 when they host the TSU Indoor Invite at the Gentry Center (Wilma Rudolph Indoor Track).
