Women's Track and Field resume indoor schedule at MTSU
Nashville, Tenn. – After a weekend off from competition, the Tigerbelles will resume their indoor schedule when they head to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to compete in the Valentines Invitational hosted by Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, February 14th. The meet is scheduled to begin with the women's weight throw at 9:30 a.m. followed by the the first running event, mile run, set for a 12 p.m. start.
Five other teams are entered to compete - Middle Tennessee State, Milligan College, Southeast Louisiana, UT Chattanooga, and Western Kentucky.
The last time the Tigerbelles competed at the MTSU was on Decemeber 6, 2008 at the MTSU Christmas Invitational taking six top-four finishes in individual events. Rahab Kagaruki and Martinique Guice placed second overall in their events. Kagaruki ran a 2:24.43 in the 800-meter dash and Guice hit a mark of 18'11.50 in the long jump.
The Tigerbelles are led by Guice and Salisha Marryshow who sit in first on the Ohio Valley Conference season best list in their individual events. Guice leads all competitors in the long jump (19"03.25) and 55-meter dash (7.23 sec.). Marryshow currently holds the fastest time in the OVC in the 400-meter dash with 59.11 seconds.
Next week, the Tigerbelles will head to Blacksburg, Va. to run in the Virginia Tech Challenge. The two-day competition is slated to begin Friday, February 20th and will end with the conclusion of the 1600 meter relay on Saturday, February 21st.
