Tigerbelles Stand Strong in the Field Events
Nashville, Tenn. - After sitting out last week, the Tennessee State women's track and field team garnered four top-three finishes at the TSU Invite on Saturday.
Campbell finished in second place in the women's shot put with a mark of 42'09.5" after a 50'06.0" third-place performance in the wieght throw. Onwu grabbed second place in the women's weight throw with a toss of 51'02.25" while finishing sixth in the shot put (39'04.50").
In the long jump, Martinique Guice captured third place with a mark of 19'00". Guice has finished in the top three in the event since the start of the season. In addition, Guice competed in the 60-meter dash, qualifying for the finals with a time of 7.83 seconds befor finishing fourth overall with a season fastest 7.82 seconds.
Lanika Horn placed fourth in the high jump with her best vault on the year, 5'05". Horn's 9.15 seconds in the 60-meter hurdle prelims qualified for the finals before she placed seventh overall with a time of 9.24 seconds.
The Tigerbelles will spring back into action on February 14th at the Valentine Invitational hosted by Middle Tennessee State.
