Joe Bonham is entering his fourth season with the Lady Tigers after becoming an assistant women's basketball coach for Tennessee State University in June 2011. He currently serves as the offensive coordinator and post players coach.
In 2012-13, Bonham helped former Lady Tiger Simone Hopes achieve career highs in points (11.3) and rebounds (7.2) on her way to becoming Tennessee State Female Athlete of the Year.
During Bonham's tenure, he developed and organized TSU's first Team Camp featuring some of the top high school teams in the country.
Bonham came to Tennessee State after serving as a graduate assistant for the Middle Tennessee State University women's basketball program. As a graduate assistant with the Blue Raiders he coordinated film exchange, assisted in film breakdown and created recruiting databases.
He also supervised the MTSU Rec Center courts during the summer camp team sessions and gave instruction to 3rd-5th graders at the Individual Camp and 7th and 8th graders during the Elite Camp.
Bonham, a 2010 graduate of Middle Tennessee, was a four-year manager with the Blue Raider program, including the last two seasons as the head manager.
During his stint with Middle Tennessee, the Blue Raiders won three Sunbelt Conference Tournament Championships. MTSU also made four trips to the NCAA tournament and had one NIT appearance.
Bonham, a native of Bartlett, Tenn., completed his undergraduate studies in May 2010 and graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in political science. He is currently working on his master's degree in sport management.
