Dominique Nelson joined the Tennessee State University women's basketball staff as a graduate assistant in summer 2009. Nelson will handle all aspects of the women's basketball program's administrative duties as well as assist with team travel, film exchange, on campus recruiting and summer camps.
Nelson, a native of Chicago Heights, Ill., graduated from Tennessee State with a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2007. As an undergrad, Nelson worked with women's basketball as a team manager for two years.
Upon graduation Nelson joined the staff at Thornridge High School in Dolton, Ill. as the assistant varsity coach for the girls' basketball team. He later moved into the position of head coach for the sophomore girls' basketball squad.
In the summer of 2008, Nelson served as a basketball operations intern with the WNBA's Chicago Sky. As an operations intern, Nelson was responsible for game day operational needs concerning the opposing team. He also assisted the coaches with on-court drills and daily practice functions.
Nelson is pursuing a master's degree in Sports Administration.
