The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will close out the year and non-conference action with a match-up against Columbia on Monday, Dec.30. Game time is set for 2 p.m. in the Gentry Center.

Tennessee State (2-7) returns to action after 15 days away from the hardwood. The Lady Tigers are coming off a, 91-50, win over Fisk. The victory snapped a seven-game losing skid for TSU.

After struggling with a feisty Fisk team early on, TSU regained its composure and started to take control of the game. The Lady Tigers built a 20-point lead at halftime and never looked back on the way to a, 91-50 win. Deaja Richardson led TSU in scoring with 17 points after going 5-of-9 from the field, including 4-of-8 from three-point range, while Taylor Roberts added 13 points. Ashley Primas came off the bench to score a career-high 13 points and junior Takya Bennett just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Megan Kent pulled down a season-best nine boards. TSU shot 47.5 percent from the field and held the advantage in bench points, 45-18.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Columbia University is located in New York. The Lions are a member of the Ivy League. After starting the season 1-3, Columbia won six straight to improve to 6-3. Sienna Durr leads the team in scoring while Abbey HSU and Janiya Clemmons round out the top three scorers. The Lions face Vanderbilt on Sunday, Dec. 29.
Tennessee State will match up with Columbia for the first time in the series history.
