Brentwood, Tenn. --- Tennessee State University women’s basketball player Deaja Richardson was named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.
Richardson (5-9, Guard) led TSU in scoring last week averaging 15.5 points, 3.0 steals and 2.0 rebounds per game through two contests.
The Kernersville, N.C. native put up 14 points against SEC opponent Vanderbilt before posting a career-high 17 points and six steals at South Alabama. She went 7-of-16 from the field and knocked down three triples in the contest.
This marks TSU’s first OVC nod of the season and first Freshman of the Week award since Taylor Roberts earned the honor for the fourth time on December 27, 2017.
