GAMEDAY
The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will get its final tune-up of the preseason with an exhibition contest against Virginia Lynchburg on Friday night. Game time is set for 6 p.m. in the Gentry Center.

THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State returns eight letterwinners from last season while six newcomers joined the team. Head coach Jessica Kern begins her third season leading the Lady Tiger program.

Junior Taylor Roberts, the top returning scorer for TSU, averaged 12.5 points per game as a sophomore. She was named to the All-OVC Newcomer team after registering 14.6 ppg and 5.7 rpg as a freshman.

Jaden Wrightsell was second on the 2018-19 team in rebounding with 6.3 rpg. The junior was also the fifth leading scorer for the Lady Tigers a season ago.

Sophomore Terrysha Banner is the second leading scorer returning from last year. She made a team second-best 27 three-pointers and dished out 45 assists.

TSU will look to improve from a season ago in which the Lady Tigers went 5-25 overall and 5-13 in OVC play.

Virginia University of Lynchburg is a private, historically black university located in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Dragons are a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association NCCAA.

TSU will officially open the season on Friday, Nov. 8 at home against Wilberforce University. Game time is set for 6 p.m. in the Gentry Center.
