NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team held its first official practice of the 2019-20 season on Monday morning in Gentry Center.
Head coach Jessica Kern begins her third year at the helm of a Lady Tiger program that returns eight letterwinners from last season. TSU added six newcomers to the team and got an early start on the first official day on the hardwood.
“Not bad on day one,” commented Coach Kern. “I think it’s a big transition, going from minimal hours to going to a full practice. We’re very athletic and we always said we’re going to be an 'end of the game' kind of team… that we’re going to go up another notch and I think we did that in practice today. Effort was pretty decent but I’m looking forward to tomorrow to see the carry over.”
The Lady Tigers will continue practice throughout October in preparation for an exhibition contest on Nov. 1 and the first official game of the season against Cincinnati Christian on Nov. 9.
