GAMEDAY: The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 22 at OVC rival Tennessee Tech. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. in Eblen Center.

THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE: Tennessee State (6-19, 4-12 OVC) picked up a win in its final home game of the season Saturday. The Lady Tigers defeated Eastern Kentucky, 69-58, to snap a three-game losing skid. TSU is in 10th place in the OVC standings.

Redshirt junior Tia Wooten is leading the team with an OVC best 21.4 points per game while freshman Taylor Roberts averages 15.0 points per outing. Kaliya Griffin (8.4 ppg) is the third leading scorer for the Lady Tigers. Wooten and Roberts also lead the team in rebounding.

As a team, TSU is averaging 68.8 points per game while shooting 37.6 from the field and 31.1 percent from three-point range. The Lady Tigers are shooting 75.4 from the free-throw line.

In the OVC rankings, TSU is second in free-throw percentage, third in offensive rebounding and fourth in steals.

LAST TIME OUT: TSU defeated EKU, 69-58, in overtime. With three-minutes left in overtime, the Lady Tigers used a 9-0 run to claim a double-digit lead with less than one minute on the clock. From there, TSU never relinquished the lead. The home team outscored EKU, 16-5, in the extra period. Taylor Roberts led TSU in scoring with 23 points while redshirt junior Tia Wooten recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Maxine Beard also notched a career-high 19 points as freshman Jaden Wrightsell pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds in the contest.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT: Tennessee Tech (6-21, 3-13 OVC) has dropped three straight and is in 11th place in the OVC standings. The Golden Eagles have four players averaging double-digits in scoring led by Yaktavia Hickson’s 11.5 ppg. Jordan Brock (11.1 ppg), Mackenzie Coleman (11.0 ppg) and Kesha Brady (10.5 ppg) also average double figures. As a team, TTU registers 60.0 points per outing.

SERIES INFORMATION: Tennessee State will match up with Tennessee Tech for the 68th time in the long series history with the Golden Eagles holding a 54-13 lead. TSU claimed the first meeting between the two teams in January to snap a four-game losing skid to the Golden Eagles.

LAST TIME THEY MET: TSU won its first OVC game of the season with a, 76-66, victory over Tennessee Tech in the Gentry Center. After pulling ahead early in the first period, TSU led the remainder of the game, moving ahead by as much as 12. Tia Wooten put up 26 points while Jaden Wrightsell also scored in double-digits with 12 points.
