GAMEDAY: The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will begin a two-game road swing with a contest at Morehead State, Thursday Feb. 1. Game time is set for 5:15 p.m. ET. in Johnson Arena.

THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE: Tennessee State (4-15, 2-8 OVC) snapped a five-game losing skid and pick up its second league win of the season after defeating Eastern Illinois last week. The Lady Tigers knocked off the Panthers, 86-68, in the Gentry Center. TSU is looking for its first road win of the season.

Redshirt junior Tia Wooten is leading the team with an OVC best 21.4 points per game while freshman Taylor Roberts averages 14.8 points per outing. Kaliya Griffin (8.5 ppg) is the third leading scorer for the Lady Tigers. Wooten and Roberts also lead the team in rebounding.

As a team, TSU is averaging 68.9 points per game while shooting 37.3 from the field and 30.0 percent from three-point range. The Lady Tigers are shooting 74.3 from the free-throw line.

In the OVC rankings, TSU is second in free-throw percentage and third in steals and offensive rebounding.

LAST TIME OUT: Tennessee State used a strong third quarter to pull away in an, 86-68, win over Eastern Illinois last week. TSU outscored EIU, 24-11, in the third quarter and shot 51.8 percent from the field, including 52.9 percent (9-of-17) from three-point range. Taylor Roberts and Tia Wooten led TSU with 18 points each while Kaliya Griffin scored 15. Wooten just missed a double-double with nine rebounds.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT: Morehead State (16-7, 7-3 OVC) has won three straight and is most recently coming off a 66-59 win over Austin Peay last week. MSU is ranked third in the OVC standings. The Eagles post 73.4 points per game while five players are averaging double-digits. Miranda Crockett, the reigning OVC Co-Player of the Week, leads the team in scoring with 15.7 ppg while Darianne Stewart (13.0 ppg), Tierra McGowan (12.7 ppg), Eriel McKee (12.2 ppg) and Erin Blaine (10.0 ppg) also score in double figures.

SERIES INFORMATION: Tennessee State and Morehead State will meet for the 59th time in the series history. The Eagles lead the series, 31-27. Last season, each team won on its home court.
