GAMEDAY: After more than a week off, the Tennessee State University women's basketball team returns to action against Fisk University on Saturday Dec. 9. Game time is set for 6 p.m. in Gentry Center.

THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE: Tennessee State is looking for its first win of the season. The Lady Tigers fell to 0-5 after suffering a tough, 68-62, loss to Arkansas State on the road on Nov. 30.

Redshirt junior Tia Wooten (22.4 ppg) and Freshman Taylor Roberts (15.4 ppg) lead the team in scoring while Maxine Beard (7.2 ppg) rounds out the top three scorers for TSU. Roberts (8.2 rpg) and Wooten (7.8 rpg) are the team's leading rebounders.

As a team, TSU is averaging 68.6 ppg while shooting 37.7 percent from the field. The Lady Tigers are shooting 66.9 percent from the free-throw line while struggling from beyond the arc (.212).

TSU is second in the OVC in offensive rebounding and 5th in steals.

The Lady Tigers are under the direction of first year head coach Jessica Kern.

LAST TIME OUT: Tennessee State battled the entire game but came up short in a, 68-62, loss to Arkansas State. TSU went 5-of-13 from the free-throw line and got outrebounded, 41-38. The Lady Tigers shot 37.3 percent from the field, including 28.0 percent from 3-point range. Tia Wooten finished the game with 23 points and eight rebounds while Kaliya Griffin scored 11. She knocked down three triples in the contest.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT: Fisk University is an NAIA Independent, Division II opponent located in Nashville, Tenn. The Bulldogs are under the leadership of head coach Shavicka Newsom. Fisk is most recently coming off a, 67-63, loss to Cumberlands (Ky.) and has an overall record of 2-9. Lashae Brown leads the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game while Sh'Niya Horn pulls down 4.36 rebounds per outing. As a team, the Bulldogs rank 25th in total steals (110), 39th in steals per game (10.0), and 49th in total scoring offense in Division II.

SERIES INFORMATION: TSU and Fisk will meet for the 10th time in the series history. TSU holds a 9-0 series lead and claimed last year's meeting in the Gentry Center, 97-41.
