NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State University women's basketball team held its first official practice of the 2017-18 season on Sunday afternoon in the Gentry Center.
The Lady Tigers are under the leadership of first year head coach Jessica Kern.
TSU returns six letterwinners from last year's team while 10 new additions were added to the roster.
The first practice of the season was high-energy from the onset. Various drills focusing on passing, ball handling and shooting highlighted the early part of the day.
The coaches then turned their focus to offensive and defensive work.
“We were so ready to get on the court," commented Head Coach Jessica Kern. "I was excited. I think we were about a B- today. Which is great from (where we were in) July. Today was fun."
The team spent time on transition before closing practice with a scrimmage.
TSU opens the season at Memphis on Nov. 10
