The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Morehead State. Game time for the OVC contest is set for 6 p.m. ET in Johnson Arena.
THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State (9-14, 4-9 OVC) is only a three-game losing skid and is most recently coming off a, 69-56. loss to Jacksonville State on Saturday.
The Lady Tigers are averaging 63.8 points per contest while shooting 39.7 percent from the field and 29.9 percent from three-point range. TSU is only shooting 63.5 percent from the free-throw line.
Jayda Johnson leads the team in scoring with 13.0 points per game while Olivia Jones (10.4) and I’mani Davis (10.1 ppg) round out the top three scorers for the Lady Tigers. Johnson, Jones and Davis are also the team’s leading rebounders.
The Lady Tigers are led by fifth year head coach and Hall of Famer, Larry Joe Inman.

Tennessee State trailed by as many as 16 points before closing to within one. TSU could not complete the comeback and fell to Jacksonville State, 69-56, Saturday night. Diamond Beatty led TSU with 13 points while Jayda Johnson finished with 10. The Lady Tigers shot 37.7 percent (20-of-53)from the field including 31.3 percent (5-of-16) from three-point range. TSU once again struggled from the free-throw line only connecting on 11-of-19 from the charity stripe. TSU also had 27 turnovers in the loss.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Morehead State (18-7, 8-4 OVC) is coming off a 65-58 loss to Eastern Kentucky but has won two of its last three and sits in second place in the league standings. MSU has four players averaging double-digits in scoring led by Brianna McQueen’s 14.0 ppg. Eriel McKee (11.1), Miranda Crockett (10.8) and Shay Steele (10.1) also average double-digits for the Eagles. As a team, MSU averages 71.5 ppg while shooting 40.5 percent from the field. Morehead State leads the OVC in blocks, field goal percentage defense and 3-pt field goal percentage.
TSU and MSU will meet for the 58th time with the Eagles leading 30-27. The Lady Tigers claimed the first meeting of the season with a 69-66 victory in the Gentry Center.
