GAMEDAY
The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team returns to action with a pivotal OVC contest versus Jacksonville State on Saturday, Jan. 21. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. in the Gentry Center.  

THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State (7-9, 2-4 OVC) is looking to get back on track after dropping its last two contests. TSU is 4-1 at home this season and 2-7 on the road. pre 

The Lady Tigers are averaging 65.3 points per contest while shooting 39.6 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from three-point range. TSU is only shooting 63.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Jayda Johnson leads the team in scoring with 13.6 points per game while Olivia Jones (11.5 ppg) and I’mani Davis (10.8 ppg) also average double-digits for the Lady Tigers. Jones and Davis are also the team’s leading rebounders.

The Lady Tigers are led by fifth year head coach and Hall of Famer, Larry Joe Inman.

LAST TIME OUT
TSU trailed by nine at the halftime break but used a 17-0 run to get back into the game and take the lead in the third quarter. The Lady Tigers were outscored, 29-20, in the final frame and saw the game slip away. Tia Wooten and Diamond Beatty led TSU in scoring with 15 points apiece. TSU went 5-of-15 from three-point range and 6-of-12 from the charity stripe.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Jacksonville State (8-10, 1-5 OVC) is coming off a near upset of league leader Belmont. The Gamecocks fell to the Bruins, 54-53, on Wednesday for their second consecutive loss. JSU has two players averaging double-digits in scoring led by Briana Benson (12.8 ppg) and Tyler Phelion (10.6 ppg). As a team, the Gamecocks average 66.2 points per game while holding opponents to 61.9 points per outing. JSU is shooting 32.1 percent from three-point range and 64.0 percent from the free-throw line.  

SERIES INFORMATION
TSU will match up with JSU for the 31st time in the series history, with the series tied at 15-all. The teams split last season with each winning on its home court.
