The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 18 with a conference match-up at Tennessee Tech. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. in Eblen Center.
THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State (7-8, 2-3 OVC) had its two-game winning streak snapped after falling to Eastern Kentucky, 66-62, on Saturday.
The Lady Tigers are averaging 65.7 points per contest while shooting 39.5 percent from the field and 31.0 percent from three-point range. TSU is only shooting 64.1 percent from the free-throw line.
Jayda Johnson leads the team in scoring with 14.1 points per game while Olivia Jones (12.6 ppg) and I’mani Davis (11.2 ppg) also average double-digits for the Lady Tigers. Jones and Davis are also the team’s leading rebounders.
The Lady Tigers are led by fifth year head coach and Hall of Famer, Larry Joe Inman.

TSU had a 10-point lead in the first half but saw the advantage turn into a deficit and had to play from behind. The Lady Tigers clawed to within two but suffered through untimely scoring droughts and missed crucial free-throws to prevent the comeback. EKU made free-throws down the stretch and held on for the win, 66-62. Jayda Johnson led TSU in scoring with 22 points.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Tennessee Tech (6-12, 3-2) has won two straight contests and is most recently coming off a, 56-54 win over Jacksonville State. The Golden Eagles average 61.4 points per game as a team while shooting 38.7 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from three-point range. Yaktavia Hickson leads the team in scoring with 16.1 points per game while Treyvonna Brooks turns in 10.5 points per outing.
TSU and Tennessee Tech will match up with for the 65th time in the series history with the Golden Eagles holding a 52-12 lead. TTU claimed both meetings last season.
