NASHVILLE --- Former Middle Tennessee State women’s basketball standout Olivia Jones has transferred to Tennessee State according to Lady Tiger head coach Larry Joe Inman.
Per NCAA transfer rules, the 5-10 Guard/Forward will be permitted to practice but will not be able to participate in games or travel with the team. She will be eligible to compete following the fall semester of the 2016-17 season.
“Olivia Jones is a great get for our program,” said head coach Larry Inman. “She is a proven winner on the floor and in the classroom. All you have to do is check her credentials through the years. We are very excited and pleased to have her be a part of our winning tradition at TSU!”
The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native was selected Conference USA Preseason Player of the Year after leading the conference in scoring (19.8 points per game) and ranking in the top five in other categories including rebounding, minutes and steal as a sophomore.
This season Jones also eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career and was the third leading scorer on the team.
The former Riverdale standout won three state championships and was also a TSSAA Miss Basketball finalist in 2013.
Jones will have one year of eligibility remaining.
