GAMEDAY
Following nearly a week away from the court, the Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will return to action at the Lady Griz Classic hosted by Montana, Dec. 19-20. TSU will face Utah State on Saturday before matching up with either Florida Atlantic or Montana on Sunday in Dahlberg Arena.

THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State (5-4) has won four of its last five games, most recently coming off a, 77-65, victory over Lipscomb at home. The Lady Tigers are 4-0 on their home court, 1-0 in neutral games and 0-4 on the road this season.

Juniors I’mani Davis (13.6 ppg) and Jayda Johnson (13.1 ppg) lead TSU in scoring while senior Brianna Lawrence (11.4 ppg) rounds out the top three scorers. These three upperclassmen also lead the Lady Tigers in rebounding.

As a team, TSU is averaging 64.3 points per game and shooting 35.1 percent from the field, including 28.3 from beyond the arc and 68.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lady Tigers are led by fourth year head coach and Hall of Famer, Larry Joe Inman.


LAST TIME OUT
Tennessee State improved to 4-0 at home after defeating Lipscomb University, 77-65, Sunday afternoon in the Gentry Center. Brianna Lawrence matched her career-high with 25 points to go with four steals as I’mani Davis added 19. Jayda Johnson also notched double-digits with 15. TSU outscored LU 28-18 in the paint and had 21 points off turnovers.

ABOUT UTAH STATE
Utah State (4-4) is coming off a win over Utah Valley. The Aggies claimed a 76-72 decision on the road. Four players scored in double-digits led by Funda Nakkasoglu’s 21 points. Tijana Djukic (12), Julianne Archling (11) and Victoria Price (10) also registered double-figures.

Nakkasoglu also leads the team in scoring with 21.1 points per game while Rachel Brewster turns in 10.0 ppg. Djukic leads the team in rebounding with 7.6 per outing.

As a team, Utah State is averaging 75.0 points per contest while shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 28.9 percent from long range.

SERIES INFORMATION
TSU will match up with Utah for the first time in the series history. A potential game with Florida Atlantic (5-2) would also be the programs’ first meeting. Montana holds (5-4) a 1-0 series advantage over TSU, with the Lady Griz claiming the only meeting, 71-48, a couple of years ago (12/1/12).

UP NEXT
Following the Christmas break, Tennessee State will return to action on Dec. 28 at SEC member Kentucky. Game time is set for 5 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum. TSU will match up with Kentucky for the sixth time in the series history with UK holding a 5-0 series advantage. The two teams last met in the first round of the NCAA on March 20, 2015. TSU fell to UK, 97-52, in Memorial Coliseum. The Lady Tigers will remain on the road and face Youngstown State two days later.
