GAMEDAY
The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will play the first home games of the season when the Lady Tigers welcome Lipscomb, Texas Southern and North Alabama to the Gentry Center for the Teresa Phillips Thanksgiving Classic. TSU will face Texas Southern at 2 p.m. on Saturday before matching up with North Alabama on Sunday.

THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State is coming off a, 98-43, set back at Illinois on Tuesday. The loss was TSU’s second straight and moved the Lady Tigers to 1-3 on the season.

After three games, TSU is led in scoring by junior I’mani Davis (12.5 ppg), senior Brianna Lawrence (11.0 ppg) and junior Jayda Johnson (11.0 ppg). Lawrence also leads the team in rebounding with 7.8 per outing.

As a team, TSU is averaging 60.8 points per game and shooting 30.2 percent from the field, including 26.0 from beyond the arc and 59.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lady Tigers are led by fourth year head coach and Hall of Famer, Larry Joe Inman.

LAST TIME OUT
Tennessee State fell to Big Ten member, 98-43, Tuesday night on the road. The Lady Tigers struggled to handle the Fighting Illini’s defensive pressure the entire night and only had one player to reach double-figures. Jayda Johnson finished the game with 11 points while Samantha Palma pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. I’mani Davis notched two steals as Illinois scored 42 points in the paint and 36 off turnovers.

ABOUT TEXAS SOUTHERN
Texas Southern (0-2) has only played two games this season. TSU fell to Kansas, 75-62, before dropping an, 87-52, decision to Oklahoma State. In the most recent loss, Toni Cheadle and Amari Dennis scored 13 points to lead the team.

 TSU is shooting 43.4 percent from the field while averaging 58.5 points per game.

Three players average double-digits in scoring led by Jazzmin Parker’s 14.0 points per game. Kiana Vines (11.0 ppg) and Toni Cheadle (11.0 ppg) average double-digits. TSU is a member of the SWAC.

ABOUT NORTH ALABAMA
North Alabama (1-4) has lost its last two games entering the tournament. The Lions most recently dropped a contest to Arkansas Tech, 87-65. Keke Gunter led UNA with 23 points while Shunice Herron added 11.

UNA is led is scoring by Keke Gunter’s 15.2 points per game while Shunice Herron (11.4 ppg) also averages double-digits. Elise Holden rounds out the top three scorer with 9.2 points per outing.

As a team, the Lions average 67.0 points per game while shooting 37.1 percentage from the field and 31.0 percent from three-point range. North Alabama is a member of the Gulf South Conference.
