Three Lady Tigers Named to OVC All-Tournament Team

Nashville, Tenn. --- Tennessee State Lady Tigers Rachel Allen, Chelsea Hudson and Brianna Lawrence were named to the 2015 OVC All-Tournament team while Lawrence garnered MVP honors on Saturday following TSU’s, 64-60, overtime victory over UT Martin in the championship.

Lawrence was named the MVP of the tournament after averaging 16.7 points per contest through three games. The Conyers, Ga. native was instrumental in TSU’s upset over defending champ UT Martin in the title contest.  She finished the game with 22 points after only scoring four in the opening half.  She hit a three-pointer in the extra period to give TSU a, 61-57, lead with 34 seconds left.

Lawrence is only the second Lady Tiger to earn the award was TSU great Connie Swift was named Tournament MVP in 1994 and 1995. 

Seniors Chelsea Hudson and Rachel Allen also averaged double-digits in the tournament. Hudson notched 15.0 ppg and 7.0 rpg while Allen turned in 14 points and six assists per outing.

This marks the first time that Tennessee State has had three players on the OVC All-Tournament team. Hudson, Allen and Lawrence join Connie Swift (93,94,95), Carolyn Aldridge (94,95) and Schronda Moore (1999) as Lady Tigers that have been named to the All-Tournament Team.
