Lipscomb Up Next for Lady Tigers
The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will return to action on Tuesday when the Lady Tigers host cross-town rival Lipscomb in the Gentry Center. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

Tennessee State is coming off a, 77-61, loss to Ole Miss on the road Sunday afternoon. The loss was TSU’s third straight and moved the Lady Tigers to 1-5 on the season.
After six games, TSU is averaging 63.7 points per outing while shooting 36.8 percent from the field. Chelsea Hudson leads the team in scoring with 17.8 points per game while Rachel Allen (9.5 ppg) and I’mani Davis (7.7 ppg) round out the top three scorers for TSU.
The Lady Tigers, under second year head coach Larry Joe Inman, returned four letterwinners from last year’s squad and added eight newcomers, including seven freshmen, to the roster.
TSU finished last season with an overall record of 13-15 and a 9-7 conference mark. In an Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll that was released in October, TSU was predicted to finish fifth in the East Division standings.
Tennessee State had a strong performance in the first half but SEC member Ole Miss took over in the second frame. The Lady Tigers fell to the Rebels, 77-61, on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Jayda Johnson led the team with a career-best 14 points while Chelsea Hudson recorded 13 points and eight rebounds. Rachel Allen scored 10. TSU showed improvement from the free-throw line but was outrebounded, 46-33, in the contest.
Lipscomb (0-4) has yet to pick up a win this season. The Lady Bisons are most recently coming off a loss to Kentucky, 116-49, in Lexington.
In the loss to Kentucky, Chandler Cooper was the only player to score in double-digits as she led the team with 15 points. Ashley Southern chipped in nine.
Following four contests, Lipscomb is averaging 58.0 points per game behind a .342 field goal percentage. The Lady Bisons are 22-of-89 (.247) from three-point range.
Alex Banks (18.0 ppg), Ashley Southern (15.5 ppg) and Chandler Cooper (12.5 ppg) lead the Lady Bisons in scoring.
Tennessee State and Lipscomb will meet for the twenty-second time in the program’s history. TSU holds an 18-3 series advantage. In the last meeting between the two teams, the Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Bisons, 69-60, at Allen Arena.
