The Houston, Texas native was the leading rebounder on the team while ranking 8th in the OVC in overall boards. She averaged a team second-best 11.2 points per game as a senior after only averaging 4.4 point per games through her first three seasons.
At this year’s athletics awards banquet, she took away one of the top honors as she was recognized as the Female Athlete of the Year.
She graduated from TSU with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry on May 11, 2013.
TSUTigers sat down with Simone to talk about her TSU experience.
TSUTigers: Talk about your overall TSU experience.
A: Great learning experience, good campus.
TSUTigers: What do you love most about TSU?
A: The school spirit and support from the alumni.
TSUTigers: What will you miss most about TSU?
A: My teammates and program.
TSUTigers: What is your most memorable basketball moment at TSU?
A: Having a very productive senior year.
TSUTigers: What is your most memorable non-basketball moment at TSU?
A: Pledging the greatest sorority known to man, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated!
TSUTigers: How do you feel social networking played a role in this season?
A: I think it helped get more people to the games.
TSUTigers: Do you have a favorite TSU fan/supporter? If so, who?
A: Yes, Mr. Patrick! He never missed a game and even came to the 5 a.m. practices just to watch!
TSUTigers: What advice would you give to incoming freshman?
A: Know your role, play your hardest, take nothing for granted.
TSUTigers: What was your most challenging class at TSU?
A: Physical Chemistry

A: Dr. Margaret Whalen and Dr. Joshua Moore

A: My professors and athletic administration

A: Graduate school to get my Masters in Physician’s Assistant
TSUTigers: Once you are an alumnus, how will you stay connected with TSU?
A: By giving back and through my younger teammates
TSUTigers: What do you know now that you didn’t know coming in as a freshman?
A: That nothing is promised, you get out what you put in…hard work soon does pay off!
TSUTigers: What have you learned at TSU that you will keep with you for the rest of your life?
A: Work is only the stepping stone to success, but discipline and determination are keys to the door.
TSUTigers: Is there anything else that you would like to say to the TSU family?
A: It’s been great! I’ve enjoyed every moment!
